Natural Rattan Materials

The Natural Rattan collection is a collections of items made in wicker, rattan and rawhide. Elements worked and woven completely by hand by expert craftsmen who have rediscovered precious traditions from the past. The materials are deliberately offered in their natural finish to exalt the concept of sophisticated simplicity that inspire these ideas. The range of fabrics available applies the traditional concept of home and is therefore suitable to use in protected environments or indoors.

Rattan and wicker

Rattan is a precious material produced by nature that comes in the forms of reeds. It is imported from South-East Asia and after careful selection, it is used to make the frames of the furniture. The main characteristics of this material are: elasticity, flexibility and lightness. The rattan cane is bent by heating it over a flame. The wicker is obtained from wire-drawing the internal part of the rattan in different diameters, in both round and flat-oval versions. It is wet and then woven by hand, to create various patterns of weave. Rattan and wicker can be coloured with painting processes.

Rawhide

Rawhide is a highly resistant, precious, natural material made from unmanned animal skin (lamb, calf). It is cut into thin strips that are then woven. It is used for ties, lending a decorative value, but also to create wide weaves. It is suited for colouring and the addition of a glue enhances the aesthetics and strength of the piece, protecting it for a long time.

Cushions and fabrics

The cushions on the Natural Rattan collection furniture have fully removable covers for washing. The fabrics selected for the furniture are cottons, wools and cashmere, with patterns and weaves that are reminiscent of tailor-made garments.
